How does it work?

There are two key ways to deal in property information. At first glance, they look similar — indeed, they’re closely related and, for many real estate entrepreneurs, one route tends to lead onto the other — but there are important differences.

The two routes are:

Becoming a property finder or sourcer (not to be confused with a sorcerer or saucer, both very different things): As a property sourcer, you start with the leads themselves (meaning you find people who want to sell their investment property), and then you try to market those leads to interested investors.

Becoming a retained buyer’s agent: Crucially, a buyer’s agent starts with the buyer, not the leads. So, you first find someone who’s looking to invest in real estate, and then you go out and source the ideal investment property or properties for your client.
